Fashion is Unavoidable
Whether you’re hungover and shuffling to the grocery store in a coffee-stained T-shirt and loose sweats, reluctantly buttoned into a suit for your new job with its strict dress code, or strutting down the runway in this season’s Prada collection, you’re an active participant in the fashion industry. Fashion doesn’t ask for permission—it’s always there, silently shaping how you present yourself to the world, whether you care about it or not.
It’s the most universal art form. Everyone participates, whether enthusiastically or grudgingly. But with that universality comes a heavy responsibility for the fashion industry: to meet the needs of billions while respecting the planet. Instead, it has shaped itself into a destructive machine.
The apparel and footwear industry is responsible for an estimated 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions (Quantis, 2018). On top of that, a staggering amount of waste is generated—the equivalent of a garbage truck full of clothing is sent to landfills or discarded every second (Ellen MacArthur Foundation, 2017). Even worse, only 1% of the material used in fabric-based apparel is recycled into new garments (Ellen MacArthur Foundation, 2017). The waste is overwhelming, the pollution devastating, and the accountability almost nonexistent.
Before you roll your eyes and click away, thinking this is just another lecture blaming you for your role in this system, let’s get one thing straight: it’s not your fault. You have to wear clothes. When the most affordable, accessible options are rooted in unsustainable practices, that’s not on you—it’s on the industry itself.
At Melody Bloom, we’re not here to shame anyone. We’re here to change the industry. By reimagining discarded materials and creating garments that are as sustainable as they are beautiful, we’re proving that fashion doesn’t have to destroy the planet to thrive. Together, we can show the industry that sustainable practices aren’t just possible—they’re the future.
Join us as we reimagine what fashion can be.
About Melody Bloom
Melody Bloom is a fashion project founded on the belief that the future of fashion must be environmentally conscious. Originally founded as an event organizing company by Ben Solomon and Gus Miller, it has since evolved into a renewable fashion brand based in San Diego, California. Now, Melody Bloom has an incredible team of 16 individuals located across the world, working every day to challenge the fashion industry and offer a safe haven of truly renewable clothing.
By creatively and mindfully recycling otherwise wasted, environmentally destructive materials, we produce well-constructed, practical, and eco-friendly garments—without compromising on the quality you’d expect from traditional fashion houses. Our mission is to raise awareness about the dangers of the industry’s current practices and to build the first fashion house prioritizing renewability.
We’re assembling a global network of talented designers who will tell their unique stories through the clothing they create, emphasizing affordability, sustainability, and beauty. By joining our newsletter and supporting Melody Bloom, you’ll become an integral part of our mission to reshape the future of the fashion industry.
Together, let’s make sustainable fashion accessible and inspire the world with garments that do good for both people and the planet.
Our Upcoming Collection
Our upcoming F/W 25 collection “Nothing/Everything” intends to fill the ambiguous space between nothing and everything. Within this space lies potential, whether it be to grow towards everything, or sink to nothingness. Each piece within the collection lies within this space between nothing and everything. It can mean everything to one person and nothing to another, the garments are waiting to be defined by YOU. Along with this, through our methods of recycling, we are taking clothing and fabrics that are representative of nothingness and waste and repurposing them to potentially be everything to you.

Meet Our team
Ben Solomon:
Hey!! My name is Ben! I grew up in Santa Rosa California. I found my love of fashion from one of my best friends in high school, Oliver Miller. It’s crazy to think all of this started from a love of music and organizing concerts for his band and now we have an international renewable fashion startup! Words can’t come close to describing how excited I am for this project to come together. I have always wanted to create a space where unique voices across the world can come together and I am so happy that it’s becoming a reality. I can’t wait to see what is next for us!
Samantha:
I’m Samantha, a creative artist who branches out as an artist/ painter, designer, poet, author, stylist, model, creative director and so much more it’s funny, I’m still new in some areas that I never thought I’d create in but that goes to show that a creative artist doesn’t stop evolving. I was first drawn to sustainable architecture and design and In today’s day and age sustainability is super important. Sustainable fashion is our way of giving back not only to the community but also to the earth through what we wear.
Ghalia:
Hello, I’m Ghalia, one of the designers working under Melody Bloom. Currently based in Dublin, Ireland, I was born in Saudi Arabia and grew up in both Boston and Pittsburgh. Through the collective at Melody Bloom, I aim to show that with dedication, anything is possible. My focus is on integrating sustainability into every part of my life, starting with my art, and I hope to inspire others to do the same.
Melody Bloom is an amazing platform for bringing these values to life, and I'm thrilled to be part of it. Ben has created a space where people come together to create something truly special, and I’m excited to contribute to that vision. I find inspiration not just in established fashion houses like Coco Chanel or Marc Jacobs, but in the process of creating something unique and meaningful from secondhand materials and scraps. We’re not just creating products; we’re redefining what fashion can be—sustainable, innovative, and just as good (if not better) than the most famous brands out there.
We’re not here to replicate the past; we’re here to replace it. I’m excited for the journey ahead with Melody Bloom and can’t wait to see where this project takes us.
Oliver Miller:
Hey, my name is Oliver. I am a designer working for melody bloom from Santa Rosa, California. I am a musician, world traveler, and writer currently getting prepared for a volunteering trip to Kathmandu, Nepal. In the world of fashion, I am incredibly inspired by the works of Alexander McQueen in the way he told stories and challenged convention though his collections, Specifically his collections La Poupée, and Voss. I am incredibly excited to bring my experience within the fashion industry and my writing to Melody Bloom to help shape the future of fashion.
